An employer should be allowed to ask for just about anything. Nobody has to comply. Unfortunately, we've created such a society of compliant sheep that most people equate a request with force, and think they are being forced to obey.

So you would be fine with searching your car..looking through your wallet..emails..surfing history

Well you're the one that's okay with police beating people that are demonstrating peacefully.

Not at all...They had the park for the entire day ...they were told to leave at 11:30 PM and to remove the tents {there is a no camping law}
The rebels responded back with we are not afraid
They were removed and arrested as a result.

I guess the other option would be ok campers you win.

Wow...some of the shit you post man/you are destroying your own credibility :(

Rebels? Not insurgents? :24:

More than likely some college kids that thought they were being tough.
"Ok brats..time to pack it up and go" should have been the announcement.

"We are not afraid" is what they were chanting
They dont pull that shit here because we whip their asses for real.

I just dont approve of this FB stuff I didnt think you would be one to be in approval.
Demanding someones Email address and password for FB seems a bit intrusive.
Especially if you dont get the job as the guy now has in your login details

Yeah, if the job position is not of high security (military, intel and the like) then no way should an employer ask for FB passwords and the like. I would invite them to look at the public page if they want ... but I sure as hell would not allow them to have access to private, none-of-their business items. After all, employers always go on about "leaving your home life at home when you come to work" ... well this applies here then!

I figure if it is that important they will just hack it anyway ;)

A private FB should be a private FB..One will have violated the trust of their friends by handing it to a stranger.
Lets say one has been talking to his sister that was raped, sodomized and beaten by her father for instance.

"I would give you my login details but there are some rather private conversations with my sister"
"We require it of all who are considered for employment"...Sorry sir.
"So if you login to my account and dont see anything incriminating do I get the job."
"Possibly..we usually interview about 18 people on the average per position" there are several more steps to go through
"So my chances of being hired are rather slim after you have logged into my FB anyway"
"Pretty much yes"
"Never mind..I will just take that job where my sister works" ;)

It violates the First Amendment. The better option would be to educate everyone that they have the right not to disclose such information. If no one agrees, then the employers would have to stop asking.

I guess one could always make a fake FB profile..
Goes to church
Gives to charity
Speaks well of past employers.
Works hard
Other job offers.
Etc

;)
