When we had very limited station options it seemed things someone deemed important would take over all public broadcast stations leving only cable to show other things.

I remember the Watergate hearings being broadcast for weeks.
Charles & Di's wedding was shown like a worldwide event.
The O.J. trial was shown every day as though it was more important than any other event.
(They even interrupted a sporting event for the slow speed Ford Bronco chase.)

We have a noon news break that lasts about 15 minutes. They just spent about 5 minutes of it talking about Prince Harry venturing to the north pole. More time than was spent on the nuclear plants & Japan recovery, Lybia or local news.

Yup, doing a north pole venture in the name of charity, though not going all the way...I think there is wedding bells for his bruv
