Praise

How are you with praise? Are you the kind of person who likes to be praised for every single good thing you do? Or do you like it less often? But still enjoy it.

An what about giving praise to people? Do you praise everytime or just sparingly?

I like praise, but not all the time, especially when it isn't something I see as a huge thing to have done. As for giving praise, I guess I do that often, more out of politeness I guess.

I don't know. I'm very bad at asking for recognition when I've done something. I'd rather do it quietly and then get praised if someone notices.



I don't like insincere or undeserved praise. We had a staff meeting recently, and I was the one who ordered in sandwiches and organised lunch in general. My boss made a point of saying in front of everyone to me that they were great, thanks. That just made me uncomfortable. I didn't make the sandwiches after all. It just came across like he thought I needed a pat on the head - it was more patronising than anything.

I think I give out more praise than what I get back. But it doesn't bother me. If it's something I've done off my own back to help someone else then I'd like recognition, otherwise I don't think I am that bothered.

I have gotten used to praising my students whenever they do something correctly that it has carried over into my personal life. I think it annoys my husband at times. Heehee.

I think everyone needs recognition for their hard work. I know I enjoy being praised for things I have spent a lot of time on. But do I need it for every little thing? No.

I'm definitely a praiser rather than a berator. I get to make that choice a lot during football. And I usually praise the idea even if the action didn't quite work.

Doling out it seems natural for me. Especially that I'm often in toxic environments, and those that actually are givers seldom get praise or consideration for their efforts. Receiving it is more difficult. I become self conscious and catch myself...but then am appreciative someone actually was observing. It also kind of feeds me when I'm frustrated or stymied.

I give praise often b/c I think it's important for people to be recognized for the things they do. Oddly enough, it makes me a little uncomfortable to be praised, LOL

I don't like when people who annoy me praise me, but I appreciate being recognized and I like to recognize the work of others. Just seems like the right thing to do.

Part of my job is to teach managers that simply giving someone their wages is not enough if you want to get the best out of them. Be creative with your praise, keep it honest, and don't overdo it.

I don't like getting it for something that is expected out of me... I am still trying to learn how to take it from clients in that reguard.

I try to give it when someone wow's me, goes above and beyond what is asked, etc.

I like it less often and I enjoy it. Though I praise people when I think they deserve it. To me when someone says "Good job!" For everything you do they aren't being truthful in my opinion.

you are pretty sappy with me though. hehe.

i love praise, although i only love it when i know that ive been doing something right, or somebody really likes something ive done. i thrive on it. i love knowing that the things im doing are impacting people in a way that make them want to say something to me about it. sometimes its hard for me to accept, especially if im having a bad day or feeling really bad about myself, but im trying to take notice of the praise im getting and be thankful for it.

i praise a ton. all the time.
