Pope to non-catholics: Your churches are wrong!

BBC NEWS | World | Europe | Vatican text angers Protestants

Pope Benedict has approved a new text asserting that Christian denominations outside Roman Catholicism are not true Churches in the full sense of the word.

The document, issued by a Vatican watchdog, has been criticised as offensive by some Protestants.

The text was written by the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, headed by Pope Benedict before his election as Pope.

It states that Christ established only one Church here on earth.

Other Christian denominations, it argues, cannot be called Churches in the proper sense because they cannot trace their bishops back to Christ's original apostles.

I don't even see why people need a pope. Seems a little odd to me that the representative of god on earth lives in a luxurious palace while preaching meekness and being humble....
I don't see the Pope as a representative of God. I don't understand that, but then I am not catholic. But then I don't see my Pastor a representative of God either. I see my Pastor as the shepherd of a flock, he helps to guide us, care for us, watch over us, love us, give us spiritual food, etc. I see Christ as the only true representative of God. I don't know. I just don't get it (the whole Pope being a representative of God on earth thing).
