Pocket Dialing

So, I gots a pocket dialing story to share.

A few days ago I was driving myself to school. In since my drive is about an hour long, I sometimes stop towards the end and pick up something from Dunkin' Donuts just before I get to the college. Well, as I'm pulling out of Dunkin' Donuts, my cell phone starts to vibrate in my pocket.

I start thinking to myself, "Who would be calling me at 7:30 i the morning?", and succeed in getting my phone out of my pocket just as I stop at the traffic light. I answer it and someone says " This is 911 what is your emergency?" Naturally, I say, " uh, I don't have an emergency". "Well, you called 911!"

I start to panic for a minute and worry that I'm in some deep trouble! Then I remember. " Oh, wait, I must have pocket dialed 911 by accident" "Ok, sir, what's your name?"

I start getting suspicious now, and begin to think someone is trying to scam me or something. I look at the phone screen and take a peek at the number. " Is this really 911? A different number appears on my caller ID"

This begins to annoy her. " YES THIS IS 911! We have landlines here you know." I decide to just give her my name and be on the safe side. She then advises me to be more careful with the phone etc. and hangs up.

So now I've been worried that every time I put my phone in my pocket I'm going to dial 911.

Anybody else do this before, or have similar problems with pocket dialing?

Yea, the phone locks, and you have to hit the center OK button in order to unlock it. The button must have been pressed in my pocket and it managed to dial 911.

Wow! How tight are your pants? :willy_nilly:

I can wear some pretty tight low riders where, when I bend over the regular phone at work squirts out of my pocket and my cell phone in the other pocket cuts off the blood flow to my left leg. I've never been able to turn it on in that way. Must be where the "button" is, I guess. 2q1zc41.jpg

It happens ALL the time, believe me. I'm not kidding...on an average night I probably have 10 - 12 phone calls that are pocket-dials or children that have been allowed to play w/ an old cellphone (they can still dial 911, by the way). Also, when they call you back it's not going to be from an actual 911 line b/c we can't dial out on those. It will be from one of our administrative lines. Hope that helps!!!

I have not pocket dialed anyone yet however i have plenty of times messaged someone with random letters at Facebook :p

A friend though despite her lock buttons and i think maybe her settings are set to longer seconds/minutes b4 it automatically locks- have numerously pocket dialed her speed dialed numbers. Idk how it happens :willy_nilly:
