PM's. I try to respond if I read it and feel a need to respond. Some are almost like reputation and not really meant as needing a response. I usually respond promptly when I read one if it needs a response. To me the biggest thing is private messages are meant to be private.

I don't really send or receive any anymore. I did a month back when I was organising a competition but other than that I don't.

In the past, I typically answered when I got them unless they weren't particularly pleasant

  • I do not expect an immediate reply, and would assume circumstances reversed they do not either... I do have other things to do. And just because I log in, doesn't mean I camp down at the computer for long periods of time... even if I do, I'm doing other things while online.
  • If they don't reply, oh well. If it's a question I wanted an answer to, I might send another asking if they got my first one.. or simply forgot to reply. I'm not going to bitch, moan, cry about it though.
  • I respond to Pm's when I have time or feel like it, sometimes I feel like no response is needed, no guilt there :)
  • If I'm getting Pm's from someone I don't care for, I am generally very short in my reply with little thought but into the response (if I feel the need to reply)... if they are stepping out of line, I'll tell them straight up, and if it turns to harassment, I'll report them.
