When my wife and I were kids there was a rather affluent neighborhood in Montgomery where all the residents really decorated outside with lights. People would ride through the neighborhood and enjoy the festive lights. One house had a special tree in their yard decorated with candies. Children were encouraged to run up and take a treat from the tree.

My wife decided we should do something similar this year so last night in the bitter cold we set up something similar for the kids of the neighborhood in our frontyard. I hope it builds a memory for these kids.

That looks kind of like what we do every year. The Phoenix Zoo goes all out with Christmas lights. We've been going every year for as long as I can remember. The lights aren't all that different, but it's a family tradition that we're now passing on to my younger brothers and my daughter. I'm excited, and we're going tonight. The other thing I'm kind of looking forward to doing is "Glendale Glitters". They decorate some of historic downtown Glendale with lights. It's pretty. I'd like to take Abigail this year if we can make the time. She loves the lights we've put up inside. Whenever they're on she just points and says "pretty" all the time..lol
