Photo by zirc = no chance of points as well :D (ok, fine...maybe a few :p)

A few is better than zero! At the end, those few could be the ones that tip someone to the top. <---- this was my second type line.

My initial typed line was "On the bright side, at least you have more chance of getting points than that of a certain team winning the Presidents' Trophy anytime soon :p"

Well, you can't "tip yourself to the top" unless you actually win a round or two. Finishing last in every round is still going to result in last place even if you get a few points. So in that respect, a few is basically the same as getting zero. :p

Of course, that's a given - look at the case of PD - not won a round yet but ready and waiting in joint 2nd. Me finishing crappily the last couple has caused me to evaluate what kind of shots I want to be including. They obviously need that little bit more - so don't be down, chin up and take the fight to the leaders!

LOL it's okay, I know that some of the other contestants probably spend loads more time on their photos than I do, and have way more experience. It's only natural that they'd do better. :)

Don't be thinking like that now, it's having an eye for a decent shot that counts imho, Not necessarily how much time you spend or experience you have

Keep joining in!

I beg to differ. It's knowing what other people will vote for that counts. I've submitted several shots that have been more than decent in competitions here that have gotten one or even no votes. People don't necessarily vote for the best picture, they vote for the one they like the most.

This is true. What's appealing to one eye may not be appealing to another. I very rarely end up voting for the photograph that wins. :dunno

I'll concede that - people do indeed vote for their favourites. People are fickle creatures and although you may have a shot that you consider good or even brilliant doesn't mean it will get any votes.

Personally, although I naturally want my pictures to be voted for or appreciated by the OTz populous - as long as I'm happy with the picture, that's the main thing for me. It makes me more determined to do better. I'm a very competitive person by nature although it may not always show :p

Hell, it depends on the other pictures too :p I was really happy with my entry for the Blue round, I took a new shot and everything, and I'm glad I did it, but I only got one vote. There were just other pictures there that people liked more, so even if your picture is amazing, if someone else's ticks more boxes then you still end up not getting anywhere.

I'm definitely enjoying how this is forcing me to look at different subjects though, there are some areas I don't bother with a lot and this competition is certainly making me spend some time on them :)
