If I'm one of the "bitchers" or "whiners" in question, I just want to point out that I wasn't making a fuss, I just disagreed with the judgment call made on my photo. I didn't call names or tell anyone to have an attitude change.

I don't mind a challenge, I just think that the rules are being interpreted a bit too subjectively - especially when ultimately, if contestants felt it was an unfair or controversial submission, they could simply not vote for it. But Francis volunteered his time to host, and that's his prerogative. :)

this whole competition is a good idea,but its new so if its ever done again things will have been learned and people who didn't host one this time might get to do so then.you'll see that it can be a pain

and as natasha said themes should present a challenge,so give francis a bit of backing,support and encouragement please

skyblue, this being the hardest test for most people and the conditions both Siph and I discussed and posted as terms that the background would count as well as the items. I think the next round should have two hosts to review such photo's so that the liability does not fall on just one person's shoulders and that time is not wasted. There are really 3 days left until i close this competition ( inclusive ) and people are still arguing about the terms of the theme.. I think if it was two hosts it would make it better as far as two people said yes or no to a picture..

In all that no one will ever be happy with the choices when rules are in play..

As Ian has mentioned, the intention of the overall competition is to provide an interesting competition and a challenge (in some rounds) where possible.

I have noticed that in some previous rounds there have been comments from people where they were wondering what to submit but eventually got something together.

This round particularly has proved to be challenging. That's as it should be. Not everything should be a piece of cake. The rules are put in place by me, true - but allowing the hosts some flexibility.

Inevitably that will result in some subjectivity regarding submissions but rather than bemoan the lack of qualification - treat it as a challenge to take something new that does qualify.

I've got a shortlist personally of about three photos for this round I want to use. If Francis doesn't like the one I ultimately choose, I'll take something new - no big deal.

I've offered Francis a helping hand in submissions for this round - so I'll await his reply. Naturally with my own submission - that will be down to Francis alone to deem acceptable or not should he decide to accept a helping hand in judging submissions.

The next round will be much simpler in contrast, my intention was for this to be a hard round - followed by a nice simple ending.

To make it clear, it's not that I don't like the Theme and it's not like me to back down, otherwise I would not be trying so hard to make this work.

That being said I will be totally unavailable next week and not back until possibly Wednesday June 26th due to business travel.. Ideally I should have received all the submissions by this Friday and the voting could have started with me logging in and doing bumps early morning and late nights only and could have wrapped this up on next Friday night as planned but it looks very well like that will not happen. I cannot review pictures and reply to multiple questions while on the road or in the air where I limited access.

As you ( Siph ) suggested we should extend this part of the contest so that people who have not met or did not submit a photo can.. That being said perhaps extending it until Friday June 29th ?

Thoughts ?

I have no problems w/ the extension, but I think that we should leave that up to you and Siph as the hosts of this round and the league.

i would be kind of annoyed to have to wait that long to finish this, but at this point--it's whatever.

I will say, Francis, that if you need me to post the poll for you or something I could do that if that will make a difference in things. I'm not taking on picking which pictures are acceptable, though...you can have that headache all to yourself, LMFAO

I'm fine with that extension Francis. Should be plenty of time for those who've not yet had one accepted to find a pic or get a new one done.

We have 4 entries that have been accepted.. So we are doing pretty good considering the restrictions of this part of the contest..
