I'm not trying to be funny or pick on you...but you DO realize you do that w/ the :ninja smiley, right??? LOL
Ugh, that's on my list, too. My mom will just start talking and I'll suddenly realize she's talking to me, pull one earphone away from my ear, and say "huh???" Bugs me at work, too, b/c we have noise-canceling headphones for when we make tapes for work so I can't hear CRAP when I have them on.
Yeah, usually. Half the time it's that one of them is sick, but a lot of the time it's just that they don't feel like going out or something. I'm just the type of person that if I tell you I'll go somewhere or do something, I'm going to be there unless I have an emergency come up.
The use of this smiley -for anything other than actual flirting. It comes across as incredibly patronising.

Well I like using so there! I don't have head phones on a lot but I am on the phone a lot at work and people CONSTANTLY come up to me at my desk and start talking to me too. HELLO, I don't hear you or the person the the phone and that pisses me off. If I'm on the phone sit down (I have an extra chair) and shut up.
Let's see pet peeves...... people either turning w/o using their turn signal or conversely having their turn signal on and going straight for several blocks.
People talking while their chewing ... :yuk

The one that tops my list is one uppers!! GGRR our neighbor is a HUGE one! and ontop of that, he's a 'know it all' at that too. the man would argue with a brick wall about it not being brick! seriously, being around him is SUCH A HEADACHE!!

People who spit every 5 seconds onto the floor. It's just disgusting and I always get an urge to pass them a tissue and ask if they are diseased or just ill-mannered.
Bad drivers, especially drivers who do not indicate.
People who are patronising to me. I just cannot stand to be talked down to. You can explain something something to me without treating me like I am thick. I hate it even more when that person is explaining something I already know.
People who sit right next to me on an empty bus. Why not take one of the other seats?
Lateness for no reason.
People who are miserable about EVERYTHING.
