Mainly asking about dogs, but cats or whatever will work too- Do you feed your pet generic type pet food, the nasty smelling kibbly stuff? Do you ever feel guilty about it?

Riley's eating and it just hit me that there's no way she could enjoy that stuff.

I have three cats and two dogs. I buy them not the cheapest but like Purina cat/dog dry food. But the dogs get scraps from us and dog treats and the cats get catnip and Boop, the one the is the most active tends to look too skinny to me and the vet and I give her a little spoon full of canned cat food every once in a while which she eats a bite or two....she is soo skinny but playful and always active.

I do also feed the birds in outside cheap bird food but hey they seem happy enuf, except those Boop brings in the house thru the catdoor ;)

My cat's clever. She only eats Sheba, which is expensive in cat food terms. I put Whiskers in her dish, no buys. The own brand stuff because I though Whiskers might have been too rich for her, even less buys. Sheba in the dish, instant buys.

its all shite to be honest...just do some research no matter your brand.

...waits for Cam to come on and explain....

I feed my cats shitty wet food because dry food kills cats....i know i found out the hard way.

I feed my dog Pedigree Vitality.

...however yes. Yes i feel like a horrible owner and i feel very guilty every-time i buy this shite for my animals. If i had the time and patience i would buy real chicken and lightly cook it for them all.

You dont even have to cook it. I buy my dogs chicken frames (carcasses) from the chicken butcher. They get one each a day. For small dogs you can get the necks, or turkey necks.

I have had cats for 20 years and only ever fed dry food - no issues

I just buy a big sack of all in one dog food. It costs about £10 and lasts her for about a month. Not worried about whether she likes it or not, she'll eat her own shit given half a chance so I'm not going to waste money on expensive food.

Dexter gets Pedigree small breed...I, like Mystic, feel like an asshole. I know he needs meat and veggies and grains not corn and meal and filler but I'm poor :( sorry buddy.

spoiled as hell! mine was a stray when i found him and he cried nonstop to go outside until we got him neutered. i knew it was a good thing to do, though, because he would have died if we didn't save him.

When Winston got cancer I researched the shit out of it, and come to find out vets attribute most cancer in dogs to their diet.

Supposedly dogs should not being eating high amounts of grain or corn which is what most of the cheaper foods are made of.

I feed my dog a range of things - but I will say the 15lb bags are usually about $45. However, the more expensive the food, the less the serving size.

Since Riley is so small you might even find it cheaper to cook her food yourself - like boiled chicken, etc. Human food is not good for dogs because of the high fat content. They shouldn't have sugar either, and somethings are poisonous to them that I never knew of like grapes??? so says my vet anyways...

But I bet there are some good recipes. I feed Winston the occasional bad food. I'm not eating everything that's good for me, and I eat shit food sometimes too.

If smell is 70% of taste, and a dog can smell way better than we can, then it's just cruel not to let them taste some of the better things in life.

Winston loves apples, donut holes, watermelon and sliced turkey.... :)
