ok heres one......a group of men go out on a stag night,all are between 25 and 30 years old.....at some point they all go into a nightclub where the 25 year old gets chatting to a young woman,shes good looking and tells him shes 19...so he thinks this could be a good night.at the end of the night he has consentual sex with her before rejoining his friends

next morning he gets woken up by the knocking on his front door by the police who want to arrest him for having sex with an underage girl

now the point is,many young girls look and are built like women older than they actually are,she was in a nightclub where the law says you have to be 18 the gain entry,and she said she was 19...and she was drinking alcohol

in britain in this situation the man would probably end up on the sexual offenders register...common sense and circumstances wouldn't come into play

i would hope the owner/manager of the nightclub would also be charged for allowing a minor entry to an over 18 club and serving booze to a minor
 
Everyone is looking at it from their opinion of what the law should be..

In many places the Law is now cut and dry with no, if and or buts about it.. If you are caught with a minor, you are a sex offender and subject to being put on a list. Plain and simple.. As soon as you turn legal age you can be subject to that rule depending on the law of the land..

I believe here in Canada they put in a 3 year exemption.. So if you are 19 and are with a 16 year old you cannot be charged even if you are legal age.. Hence the 3 years..

I think you really have to take things on a case by case basis when there are extenuating(sic) circumstances. The age of both parties, is either party mentally compromised, either due to alcohol/drugs or mental retardation or illness.

My son is 15. If he had sex with another 15 year old (after I found out and beat him) I would not consider that rape.

I think males get a raw deal in a lot of the borderline cases....sounds like what AA described do happen and it's BS!
