Alright Paypal is bullshit. I tried applying for their debit MasterCard and it's telling me i need to submit proof of SSN, and ID and i've done so before. Why the hell should i have to do it again? They placed restrictions on my account. Such BS.

Simple fix but restricting your account is a bit extreme. You think they'd give a 24 hour notice or something along those lines.

edit : So I re-read your post.. and they placed restrictions on your account for something you voluntarily applied for that is unrelated?

No different from applying to a regular bank for a card, they're within their rights to ask you for ID to prove you are who you say you are. Not sure about the rest of it though, seems unusual that they've then restricted your account.

I've never applied for more than one card and I spoke directly to my bank about it so it's hard to say what's usual practice, but I'd guess for an online bank maybe they want to be more strict about security?

Have you tried calling them?

I'm not applying for a debit card for my bank. I'm applying for a Paypal Debit MasterCard so that i can withdraw money from my Paypal at an ATM. I had one years ago but as with all cards they expire and you have to get a new one. Paypal doesn't automatically renew your card like a bank does. So you need to reapply if you don't keep track. When i originally had the card i wasnt getting steady money on paypal so i let it slip. I reapplied a few months ago but was declined and they told me to verify i was the account owner. I did so and still was denied because apparently u can only apply once a month i think it said. I tried to apply again and it told me i had to verify but i already did so once.

Best bet would be to call and speak to them on the phone and work the issue out. It may take a little talking to get it fixed, but it'll be worth it.

They asked for your SSN? That's really odd. I didn't give them that when I got my PayPal Debit Card. You want to call them ASAP, that sounds kind of sketchy.

They didn't years ago it's something new that was implimented. I never had to the first time I got a card. Allen, how can I get something locally for a website? That's silly.

See this is bogus.

Sorry, you're not eligible for the PayPal Debit MasterCard®. This may be because you live outside the United States or you've already applied in the last 30 days.
