Panic attacks

Yes, I have had a few. It was when I was partying too much with some pretty severe underlying depression. You're right, they suck!! Mine were from "feeling alone".
 
I've never experienced panic attacks. But i have seen friends experience it. I understand it must be hard :(

As most have said, deep breathing can help. You have to use all your respiratory accessory muscles e.g chest,shoulders, tummy when you do your deep breaths. Breathe through your nose (inspiration- breathing in) inhale as much air as you possibly can. Then breathe out through 'pursed lip' they call it- which is through your mouth-then release it all. Do this several times till you feel relaxed ;)

Think of happy thoughts too- like a 'Mind over Matter' kind of thing :)

And last but not the least- try chewing a gum.....Medical studies suggest- the chewing mechanism releases a certain enzyme in our saliva that makes us relax. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
 
Hey any of you folks get them? i do occasionally and they suck big time. I've been having them the last few days, last nite I finally took a pill I have prescribed. The b*tch of it is, I don't know why I am having them now. Work is not stressful, hell I just got a great job appraisal. Money isn't too tight and I even was drinking some, which usually I don't have them then.

I hate them! They are illogical, demoralizing....at least they aren't fattening ;)

Yep i've had them for years :( I go through bad phases then have periods where I cope better but they are always there.
