I am wondering if I can take a can of paint to the paint store, and have them add something that will change a satin finish to a semi-gloss. Is that feasible?:)

I wouldn't think so, or we wouldn't have separate cans of paint types. :dunno

But I'm far from a paint expert, LOL I'd call Lowes and ask them.

Thanks much. I guess I can stick with the satin, as it will be going over a very worn flat finish. It'll probably look a lot better than the previous paint job.

You can make any paint or finish duller by adding components but you can't go the other way. Take polyurethane for example. Satin is the exact same make up as gloss only with a satin modifier. You can notice this modifier in satin polyurethane because it sinks to the bottom of the can, you need to stir it in before you use it.
I don't think I have ever come across this modifier by itself and I highly doubt you can buy it at a paint store.
