I've browsed through the forum and didn't see any competition threads...so I thought it would be quite awesome to have one

POTW = Poetry of the Week

So we'll have a Poetry competition every week...anyone can enter...and then depending on the number of entries, I might make a separate thread for voting...and I was thinking maybe all the winning poems can be kept in an archive thread. (stickied)

Okies then.

Theme for this week: own choice (just to get people started)

Deadline for entries: Friday...and then voting will commence...

this one isnt that good. i was too obsessed with the rhyming and getting my thoughts across. but it was a spur of the moment thing and i wanna be in the contest E for effort at least

Here's my entry.

As...

As the moon wanes, so wanes your love.
I am an eagle, no more your dove.
Another face, more fair than mine,
Will surely win your love in time.

As tarnished gold begins to rust,
Picture perfect frames in time gather dust.
Lined up in rows on burgundy shelves,
A remembrance of our youthful selves.

As Kodak moments are forever lost,
May what remains be forever glossed.
Glowing like a kaleidoscope of shades,
The imprint of your smile never fades.

As you and I break loose our ends,
We shall continue to make amends.
Even though it pains me to see
I am no longer your eternity.

As we move on to different lives,
Let bitter-sweet memories keep us alive.
The sweet-sorrows, the joyous pains
And whatever else that remains.

As sand runs through the hourglass,
My hardened pain will too surpass.
Another day, a brand new start
A fresh beginning to my heart.

Well,

If the members here Wish to Participate in a Poetry Contest, Then I support their Choice to So, I will Place a Poll on it and Make make a Sticky for it.

As for me.. Im sure we all know my thoughts on Competition in any form.. Poetry and styles are diffrent as is taste in understanding them.

I will Post a Sticky asking for Results.. See what others think.

Flowers


You put flowers in your hair
Soft pedals made brittle by your cheeks
Bleeding fragrance to the air
Dull sweetness lost in your scent
You put flowers in your hair
Wilted beauty in red by those lips
As if attempting to compare
No taste of sugar from its leaf
You put flowers in your hair
But they only pale in my minds light
And it just seems so unfair
Fading colors with your smile
