Out and about with Alien Allen

I never studied birds. I just take the pictures

But I would say it is a white egret

I keep telling myself to take my camera to the golf course on thursdays. About three weeks ago their was a hawk nearby in a dead tree that would have been a great pic.

Well today we came down the hill in the 3rd fairway and I could see a long legged bird off in the distance up nearer to the green. I thought it might be one of the sand hill cranes but it was alone and there had been 3 always together.

This bird was walking like a duck. It took me a while to catch on that it was sick. Which is a damn shame. That made sense though as I never would be able to get within a hundred yards of a Great Blue Heron.

I got out my camera phone and got to within 15' of it. It just stood there. I could have probably got closer yet but did not want to make things any worse for it. Poor thing. Hope it makes it as they are majestic birds

I read your link and don't see anything mentioned about a " Herring ". Maybe I'm wrong but I always thought Herrings were fish.
