What about my generation that is going to pay our whole lives and likely never see a dime? The system is broke, figuratively and literally.

As for the constitutionality of it, go read the original ruling from the Supreme Court back in 1937. It essentially says "this is way out of the governments rights, but this Depression is so severe that its justifiable." Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Social Security was the perfect social program until the politicians in charge (of every flavor) sabotaged it by deciding there was too much money not to rob it. I can't say a program like this would ever run into problems, but if it had not been robbed, it would have the money to deal with the baby boomer retirees. Sadly I don't believe there is enough money there to deal with the current situation.

Social Security was never a perfect system, it's been what amounts to a Ponzi scheme from the beginning.

I'll admit when I was 20 years old, I asked the same question, will it be there for me? If it collapses, it converts from a benefit to one hell of a tax. If it needs fixing, then really fix it or get rid of it. Then you can refund me 75% of what I put into it. That seems fair. ;)

Maybe you missed Retro's moment of truth up there

Then went right back to the talking points :dunno

And you can't take actions to stop a lie...

You completely missed the point. I said that one thing in and of itself wasn't unconstitutional, but that combined with other things that were done, it was. Just like I could be at a store during a robbery, that isn't a crime. However, if I was the one pointing the gun at the clerk and demanding money, that would make me guilty, or I could be the getaway driver, which would again make me guilty. Simply being there doesn't mean I'm a criminal, but being there and taking part in the crime makes me guilty. Just like this situation.
