I think its a personal preference....no different than getting your ears pierced..
And its far from a poor mans preference...have you any idea how much they cost nowadays??

Yes I'm aware. When you start paying a 100 grand let me know, that's the breakpoint for investment grade art.

My we take it personal. My point, which apparently blew by you, is that a tattoo is done for whatever personal reason or reasons you have. I was asking the nature of those reasons.

As to the art, paying a 100 grand for art that appreciates in value shows intelligence, investment savvy and more importantly common sense. How much do tattoos appreciate in value and who does that make the fool?

Allow me to ask, at least for this thread, an inappropriate question. What is the reason(s)/need/desire to get a tattoo? To quote Major Winchester..."the poor man's investment in art."
It's a form of self-expression. While some people may choose a piece of jewelry, a new outfit, or some type of trinket others choose to ink their body. Each one of my tattoos (okay, not my Kermit, but the others) has a special meaning to me. I have the star of life on my left ankle to celebrate my EMT certification that I worked VERY hard for. I have a star w/ my badge number on my left wrist. I'll be getting inked again next weekend, but I haven't quite decided if I'm gonna do the tattoo I've had drawn up for 2 years now or if I'm gonna do something completely different. We'll see, I reckon.

I dont have a tattoo....i was merely stating the obvious reasoning to your question....:D You quoted that it was a poor mans art...i was saying its a more personal attachment to some than "framed" work.:D

I don't have a tattoo either and, frankly, don't understand the attraction to them hence my question. The quote was from an old MASH episode which I insert for the purpose of "stimulating" the conversation.

Speaking of stimulation.....do your legs really look like your avatar? :D ;)
