one of the most successful alternative clothes models in the \UK is rose thorn and she is about 18 stone...so?

Remember a psychology assignment must be backed up by sources and references on every major point, otherwise it's just you opinion. Though I'm sure you already know it :)

I would say looking at it from different sides, and not just the generic points of view that we are told to be thin by (x)magazine. The hard part may be finding psychologists that have already theorised this and have done thesis on it. But don't take my word on it, it's my good lady who is doing the psychology masters... not me. :) take all peoples opinions whether you think them right or wrong.

But good luck and hope you do well.

so thats good aint it? I think the media need to put a mix and match women on the modelling front because it would inspire women to be all sorts of different shapes and sizes bar all wanting to be thin most models today are quite thin and this can encourage young people to think this is right. It has negative effects on their life but i think there is not enough bigger women appearing on the scene to make it more varied....

rather than collecting anecdotal evidence from a bunch of old farts you may be better doing a questionaire asking about weight ,diet,magazines read,fave personalities,who would you most like to look like etc and give it to your peers to fill out.

you should be able to get reaerch info from eating disorder charites ,and responses from model agencies ie select on their policies towards size 6 and below models.

i would also look at celebs like beckham ,knightley etc and compare weight and appearance over a period of time with the average weights of women from 14yrs to 30yrs.you could use pictorial evidence with this

thanks for the advice, however my investigation is only only 10-19 as 14-30 is to big an age gap and the actual topic i have studied from is children in the media but you have helped me so thanks. and also its only on celebs in films and tele and im not sure if they have a policy on weight i dont think they do but the ating diosrder charities is a good one thanks.

Hi i need some reserch for my A2 level exam in June. I need to hear people's opinions on;
'To what extent do celebrities in TV and Films influecnce young people's body images'. I would like to hear your everyone's opinion on my statement. Please help! THANKS .
It depends on if they were raised on TV and Films. For kids that spend a good amount of time in from of the tube, I'd say a lot and not in a good way.

For kids that were not raised in front of a tube, I'd say not a lot. I make sure to point out to my kids that THIS is real life ... the one you live ... not on TV, not in films, and not on the Internet either. Living is about doing, not watching.

A celebrity like Britney Spears influences me to make sure I am always able to afford clean underwear to put on before I leave my house. A good body image is important for all those pervs with the up-skirt cams.
Hope that helps.

Muahahahaaa. :24:
