December 27th. My partner and I were getting started on a new project on the west side of Fort Wayne. A mortgage company was moving into a house just east of the new complex off of US14.
Right across the street from us, is the new Bandido's. I decide, I want something better than fast food. I suggest there, my partner agrees.
We go in, have a great lunch. My total bill comes to 9.29... I have like 7 bucks on me, and I knew it so I paid with my credit card. I gave a GREAT tip... I would have been exstatic to receive this tip as a driver, let alone someone who just walks and doesn't expend gas money giving people their food.
My tip brought my total up to 14 even, so I had left a 4.71 tip.
Last week I was making an online payment to my credit card and just HAPPENED to notice this...
12/27/2005 BANDIDO'S GLENCARIN , FORT WAYNE , IN $21.25
12/28/2005 AMOCO OIL 02602753, FORT WAYNE , IN $6.36
1/1/2006 WAL-MART #1419 , FORT WAYNE , IN $7.95
1/5/2006 MURPHY 6931 @ WAL-MART, FORT WAYNE , IN $25.10
1/8/2006 SPEEDWAY 5505 Q64, FORT WAYNE , IN $5.71
1/9/2006 FAZOLI'S #1660 Q44, AUBURN , IN $4.54
:tard wtf?!?
So I called the phone number on the receipt I just had HAPPENED to keep from the 27th. It's the Georgetown store. So the manager gives me the number to the BRAND NEW US14 store. I then went through the whole shebang again explaining my problem. Her response was this "Give it a few days, the charge will go back down to 14 dollars."
For some odd reason, I was satisfied with this. I hung up and didn't give it another thought... then I happened to check my statement again tonight while making another payment...
That list up there was copied TONIGHT directly from my online statement. Kathy will be receiving another call Friday.
The thing that saved me here, is saving my receipt. I normally don't... but when I pay with my card from now on in a restaurant, I'm saving my receipt until I check my online statement.
Here's the problem; when you hand your card to the waitress, they go run it for the base amount. When they bring you your receipt to sign, you add the tip within that, and at the end of the night they'll run all the credit card orders and add in the tips to the total amount. My gut feeling is that fucking greedy bitch of a shitty waitress (only because it was their first day open, honestly) decided to give herself an EXTRA 7.25 tip OVER that of the 4.71 I had already given her... and as of right now, I'M PAYING FOR IT.
I use my card all the time at Rack & Helens (a bar next door to my office), and it's never happened. Ever.
From now on, I'm going to tell them to add the tip into it the first time they run the bill instead of at the end of the night.
Tomorrow, some fireworks are going to fly. If we're slow as balls, and I'm with Bobby... I'm going to ask to go out there to talk to the manager one on one.
