I just googled Cedar Point. The amusement park? That looks like a whole lot of fun.

I'd like to try everyday food as well as all the junky stuff. I've been told that the average American diet is a lot different to ours....more processed.

Oooh oooh and I want to see a cereal aisle in a supermarket, I heard that you have lots and lots of cereals to choose from.

Thanks for the link, Sneakiecat. They do look tempting.

I remember my grandparents having fishfries every couple of months and making homemade hush puppies. They were to die for.

A few more
Sweet tea
Red velvet cake
Strawberry shortcake
Cornbread but made in a cast iron skillet
Pralines
Pecan pie

Its one of the best amusement parks in the world, It's in Sandusky, Ohio right on Lake Erie. Miss Kitty lives closest to there, I live probably about 2.5 hours from it.

Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Hate to say it, but thanks to Hurricane Katrina and the flooding you won't have to deal with the usual smells of piss, puke and rotten cooch from all the strip clubs. Now it'll just smell like a week old garbage dumpster! I love that place!

Santa Clara Valley, California (I know you said the weather would be the same, but one thing's different...I'm not in Australia :D )

Disneyland
Great America
Marine World
Hollywood
Universal Studios
Beverly Hills
Tech Museum
Discovery Museum
San Francisco (Pier 39 and others, Golden Gate Bridge, all types of people, food, things you might not see anywhere else in the U.S.)
-my favorite-Carmel, (beautiful, quiet, peaceful, nice people)...and also Monterey (the Aquarium amongst other things)

not far from: Lake Tahoe, Reno, Las Vegas

Food? Around here, we have every kind of food...you'd never go hungry or eat the same thing twice.

San Jose Sharks (hockey)
Oakland A's/San Francisco Giants (baseball)

There have been some great ideas suggested here, thanks. Any further ideas would be appreciated. :)

In the next couple of weeks I'm going to start pinning down my itinerary a little more including the places I had already chosen to visit and some of the places suggested here.
