Of course it was illegal under British law, the only reason it stood is because the USA won and as we all know, history is written by the victors. Any decleration of independance if not approved by the country the're breaking away from is illegal. Laws are very rarely changed without someone standing up against them and breaking them. The whole thing is all rather silly now, anyway, it happened, there's no official animosity between the two countries any more over it so fighting it out now is pointless. If you want to do that we may as well say that what Ghandi did is illegal and what Rosa Parks did is illegal.

I support trying all American's for High Treason.

Unfortunatley, even our archaic and usually unenforced monarchistic rules no longer carry the death penalty.

And if we were found guilty?

Who would be able to enforce the penalty? Surely not your tiny country or military... :24:

Lets face it, even if we could get the USA made an annex of Great Britain, why would we want to? The'd swamp our parliment and probably make guns for everyone legal and abolish the NHS! No thanks! I'd rather keep them as our friendly but eccentric friends. :D

Nukes are the great leveller.

Or maybe we just won't give you that 5 minute warning when the Migs fly over head :p

We have ICBM's that will go from downtown Little Rock to downtown Moscow in 28 minutes. It will make it to England first.

Do the math. ;)

I think this is over 60 years too late....if they had found that out before WW2, I don't think Germany would of started the war

Ok, I don't think either you read the same article as everyone else or your brain is working in a strange way again.

do you mean that if 60 years ago the US and GB were politically the under the same govt that Hitler would not have invaded Poland, because he would have feared retribution from this alliance?

Yeah, kind of...I know Hitler was probably planning a war against America because of the Axis with Japan suggested that
