RE: oh man i just got the sweetest pair of jeans on this pla

first off popped collars are gay

second off spending over 27 dollars for a clothing item that is not a basketball shoe or jersey is a rip off.

A simple tshirt and jeans damn thats all you need, maybe a KG jersey but thats it. :D

$125 might seem like a lot of money for a shoe but its worth not having blisters and looking good :D Ahh i love my Wade shoes....

RE: oh man i just got the sweetest pair of jeans on this pla

hey hurt, i just read this really long thread (dont ask me why :D ) and thought id throw my .02$ in.

first of all, dont get so defensive. IF you really dont care what people think, then least of all you should care about what people on an internet board think.
BUT at the same time, id like to point out a few things (and again dont take this personally since i have nothing against you personally...)

first, you say you dont care about what people think in this regard. well, in at least one post you said you "did it becasue everyone else did". excuse me if a got the quote wrong but thats the gist. well, for the record, doing something becasue 'everyone else did' especially with regards to clothes, is precisely the definition of "caring what people think". but lets give you the benefit of the doubt here and say you actually do it becasue you like the way it looks. that way we can believe you when you say you dont care about other opinions.

fine.

the other thing, and what you dont seem to want to accept, is that it is not as common or popular as you think. yes some people do it, but you know what, i live in NYC, one of the most diverse places on the freaking planet, and i barely see that kind thing. and im talking in the subways, on the buses, uptown, downtown, east, and west. yes there a LOT of different styles around here, but i barely EVER see the popped collar. (just a reminder becasue at this point it probably sounds like im attacking you - im not, im just pointing out observations). when do i see them though you might ask? good question. i see them when i see groups of rich kids wearing a brand name on every article of clothing on their bodies. (and no im not speculating, assuming people are rich and stuck up etc..., rather this is coming from observing that most of the times ive seen this type of thing, its with people i KNOW are rich stuckkupjerkssnobs whatever you wanna call it) and at the same time, when i see the people who i know are a little more down to earth, its pretty much nonexistent. and when i say down to earth, i dont mean "cheap" or whatever, but rather i mean people who *really* dont care about what people think. yes they may dress well, and want to look good, but that does not entail following silly trends and fads.

im not in the mood to go on but you get the point.

anyway sorry if this annoyed you or whatever, like i said, no hard feelings or anything,

truthfully i only seen a few people wearing the popped collar. and they were maybe 10th or 11th graders. dint really think much about it and i really dint care. not my type of style but if thats what they like to wear then who are we to say anything. but i kind of understand this is most likely constructive critisism (sp) . just trying to let you know it may not be the style anymore and just trying to save you some embarrasment.

my jeans cost 7 bux, brand new. look just like a pair of polo jeans i have that original price was 70 bux (i paid 20 at sams club). moral of the story is...........why pay mega bux when you can buy the same thing cheaper, and enjoy your hard earned money else where??? :dunno

The most expensive thing I wear is my shoes... and they are 40 dollar Reeboks. My other shoes are work shoes, NewBalance... the best ever.

Other than that, my entire day's clothes cost me like 40 bucks tops. lol

I wear ankle socks, blue or black jeans, boxers, a white tshirt with a "dress" shirt over it. Sometimes one of my hoodies.

Comfortable dressing > preppy dressing. People look like they buy clothes too small for them here.

RE: oh man i just got the sweetest pair of jeans on this pla

im a junior in HS and popped collars are gay, very gay. i wear american eagle jeans and polo shirts. basically, other than the random t-shirt, thats me. i put the collar down and get tons of drunken teen pootang friday and saturday late nights. yes, our cool crowd goes out at 9-10 and come in at 3-4-5 the next morning- enough time to get ready for work. we dont sleep much because we will get enough sleep when we are dead. live life for the moment for the moment is just a moment then it is gone... if you dont agree with my view of life, your view is clouded by the non-cool kids. since everyone wants to be cool, ill fill you in on how us cool kids do it.

Dos for the cool kids:
1. no popped collars
2. wear comfy new balances
3. wear american eagle jeans
4. wear crafty boxers that are comfy and durable
5. have black leather belt, black leather wallet, a checking acct with doe
6. maintain a nice clean haircut to make the girls' parents like you
7. own a nice, loud, clean mustang for the girls to ooohhh and ahhhh at
8. live life by the moment
9. sleep during the breaks in the day
10. get laid

yes, i do the posted above, and it works out for me quite damn well. i suggest you (hurt911gen) do what i do if you want to be successful in life

I'd try not to get overly excited about fashion at your age

I hear it can lead to broken wrists

I think it's great that a guy cares about how he looks. I go to THE preppiest school in the south, and although a lot of guys who pop their collars look gay, most of them aren't. Popped collars are still very in, it just depends on where you're from.
As for the jeans, you get what you pay for. Why not pay a little higher for something that will, in the long run, be cheaper?

if they arent gay, why do they insist on looking it :D

but anyway, the quality areguement isnt so mcuh of an issue with jeans. most jeans are made of same type of denim. when you pay more for the jeans, usually its for the brand name and the cut of jean. but if you just want basic jeans there is no reason to get something crazy $$.
with girls maybe i can see it, since sometimes their clothes are more fitted so if you want to look good you may need to spend more, but with guys? pants are pants....
