I can't yet decide if this is a joke...is this a joke?

Bill Donohue took offense at David Silverman's comment there are atheists who may not know they are atheists. The article was a hate filled response. Why is Donohue so angry and hateful of Silverman for suggesting there are people in the churches who don't believe? It is a certainty there are men professing belief only to make their wives happy. (I'm sure it happens the other way too. But the examples I'm thinking of are men.) These men don't consider themselves to be atheists but that's what they are. They just have a misinformed definition of atheist.

Certainly, it's a difficult subject. I can imagine if someone you love is very devout, and you feel muddy about the situation, it's best to go along. I bet a lot of people have mixed feelings, it seems only natural to me.
