nah, it's a capitol T shaped piece of plastic that has copper on the arms. it sits inside the uterus at the base of the cervix.

I agree that the IUD is the best way to go. I wish my insurance covered it.

nothing to yer hormones. my insurance covered mine but i know at the time (9 years ago) they were about $250. my friend was gonna get one through planned parenthood last year and i think it was gonna cost around $350.

not really painful.... more uncomfortable. they have to dialate your cervix and after they place it you cramp pretty bad for a few days.
