Interesting article given that all we really ever hear about Obama is how upset people are with him... what say the Americans here?

But by Election Day 2010, Obama will have soundly achieved many of his chief campaign promises while running a highly competent, scandal-free government.
I think we need to hash out just what "scandal-free" means.

But overall, the White House is populated by hard workers who are rowing in unison to advance the cause and rarely take their disagreements public through damaging leaks.
Odd that this should be such a vital point in an administration that touts its transparency.

Control of Congress makes things easier, for sure, but so does an absence of indicted, disgraced or bungling appointees.
I don't know what drugs this guy is taking but he blissfully ignores reality. Well... I take that back. The tax cheats & others Obama's appointed to key positions have not been indicted or disgraced. They only should have been.

The health care bill's passage is, of course, the White House's signal achievement, and was accomplished without revealing the Administration's cognizance (thanks to internal polling and focus groups) of the legislation's stark unpopularity among the public.
This fact disgusts me beyond words. USA isn't a monarchy. The federal gov't was never set up nor intended to be able to drag We The People kicking and screaming into a situation we never wanted, just because the administration supposedly knows what's best for us.

Strikingly underrated by the Washington press corps are Obama's gains on education policy, including a willingness to confront the education establishment on standards for both teachers and students.
Completely unconstitutional and in no way within the authority of the president or Congress.

I can only hope that he is not as successful as this apologist asserts. To bring a little reality into the fog, here's a link of the senate seats up for grabs:

The absolute best for our country that we can hope for is complete deadlock in Washington. They've done too much damage already. It's a dream to think that enough right-minded people would be elected to actually cut departments and programs, and shrink the federal gov't back to the minor roles the Constitution dictates, so stalemate is the next best alternative.

Many called him, Kenyan, muslim, terrorist antichrist etc but he created history. He cant be blamed for what he inherited and he was democratically elected. Better luck at the ballot boxes the next time round. I got some news for you guys now:
Texas lawmaker: Obama is ‘God’s punishment on us.’
On Saturday, Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) and several other elected officials boosted Fox News host Glenn Beck at an event at the Oil Palace in Tyler, TX. The day was full of right-wing flame-throwing, including Perry saying that he was “proud” to be in an “army” of anti-Obama Americans. Another prominent theme during the event was that the country has “drifted far away from its founding values”:

In singapore if we have an incapable president or PM or for that matter any lawmaker in the ruling party, out he goes in no time. No time is wasted.

But since you changed to the new form of "direct popular election" of the president, who have you elected and kicked out of power as well as how early ?

http://www.istana.gov.sg/

The incumbent President is Sellapan Ramanathan, widely known as S.R. Nathan. He was not actually elected by the people in a vote, but became President by virtue of being the sole candidate deemed qualified by the Presidential Elections Committee. His first term of office was from 18 August 1999 to 31 August 2005. He was re-elected after a walkover on 17 August 2005. His current term of office will expire in 2011.

The subject today in my class was Law of Tort. Funny, my mind was distarcted in class when the lecturer talked abt Defence of Fair Comment and my mind strayed into this forum.
This is what I learnt:
- The maker of a defamatory statement can raise this defence if it was an expression of opinoin (he did not state it a
a matter of fact)
- And the words complained of -
* were not actuated by malice (bad motive) but were fair (i.e. honest opinion), and
* amounted to comment on a matter of public interest.
Those who accused me of trolling I believe that was a fair comment on their part:24:

Obama is toast. I don't care what your idiot blog stories say. The economy would have to turn around for him to get re elected and that is not gonna happen. We are not a left leaning country. We are much more centrist and if anything a little tilted to the right. Thanks to the incompetency of the Bush and the republicans those in the middle were sucked into the Obama bullshit campaign and it got him elected. That mistake will not happen again. Like this last election just about anybody reasonable could be on the ballot and beat Obama. The only other way he would be elected again is if the republicans took control of at least the senate. People might be willing to give him 4 more years if there was something to counter balance against his and the lefts nonsense.

that's a bit of an understatement!

You have your 30% that are on the far left

Then 30% on the fair right

Of the remaining 40% most of them would be in the middle. Might be socially a wee bit liberal but likely fiscally conservative

For example I would like to see prostitution and drugs legalized. Take the money pissed away on enforcement of something unenforceable and use that towards health care. That is a pretty liberal view I would think.

Yet fiscally I am far, far to the right.

The govt should be limited as to what it is to do.

Thats a fair comment by you, cuz I know no malice intended by you:D

You gave me warm and fuzzzies, :p but in an honest democracy politicians remain or are removed by the will of the people which consists of their vote or passing laws that cover terms of office, not black bag teams that make you disappear... ;)
