i use AVG Free Edition for Windows. my cousin put it on my computer and said it is what he uses at work. i have had 2 viruses in 3 years and avg caught both trojans- both came from music downloads. then i ran Spybot Search and Destroy and it told me the exact files that were infected as did AVG. so i reboot in safe mode nd delete those files- perfecto

The problem that I found with Norton is that it wants to take over every system in your computer. I did not like its invasiveness.

I use McAfee & haven't had any problems yet (fingers crossed). The only problem is that it is a little expensive if you buy the upgrades they offer, so each time they ask me to upgrade I go to ebay & buy the latest version for one quarter the price - this should keep you going for a couple of years.

Atlantic has it right...

AVG is the ONE virus snagger out there that even we hackers can't bypass. I used to literally hate it when I'd try out a new one on my old computer, and AVG would catch it.

You can download it for free at http://grisoft.com

I use AVG free 7.0 version It works fine. Just remember to let it get updates.
As for Spyware I now use the Microsoft Beta version of the spywareblocker. You have to have at least the Win_XP number-2 patch download to use the beta version It's working great. It swept out a 3 month old Spyware macro that I thought I would never be able to get rid of.
