The biggest discount I ever got was a couple of dollars off the price of a movie ticket or a dollar off a meal at the local pizza place. :dunno Nothing big enough to make a fuss about.

I guess it's different where you live. Over here a student card will get you discounts on all sorts of things.

What? How do they manage that without needing government assistance due to low income? I got most of my tuition covered by the university but that was because of my grades and ACT scores. If I could get the government to pay for my masters degree I would be all over it.

That's sort of what I was referring to. I go to a state school and a lot of kids had their tuition completely covered by government grants because of low income. Some also get money to buy books, a computer, and other expenses related to school.

I often used book buyback when I went to college. The schools themselves were horrible when it came to book buybacks and offered the returnee virtually no return on their investment. However, I found that second hand textbook stores give a good amount of money back on used textbooks. Where I live, there is a really great bookstore that carries essentially every book for every university within the area called Mary Jane Books. I often bought my books through here and then brought them back at the end of the semster and got a really great return back on my investment.

i use chegg.com for my books. however alot of classes now have the e-books where you rent them for the semester (way cheaper then buying used). it still sucks though because the majority of my cost is the damn books!
