credit card companies will have to take this into consideration when sending their bills out, one less day of taking more money away from us.

My Bank and AMEX credit cards have been pushing me to get email or online statements.. Some companies have started charging for paper bills or give you a credit if you take it online or via email.. I keep telling them to stuff it and send me my bills :p

I think they could cut down to every other day delivery, actually...but I'm not in charge of the Postal Service, LOL

Me and a lot of old folks will miss Saturday delivery. On the plus side I might get my weekly papers on Friday so I will have time to read the auctions before they begin.

The need for a gov't postal service is long passed. Fedex and UPS would have destroyed it long ago, but they were prevented by law from undercutting their fees and from delivering letter-size packages.

I'm not really sure if I like this much just yet. On one hand, I rarely ever mail stuff, but on the other hand...it's usually a Saturday at the last minute when I need something to go out that day that I decide to mail something lol. :)

I think I will just have to designate another last minute day.

I read a few comments that said the US Postal Service was protected by the US Constitution. Is this true ?

They were quoting this as the Clause..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postal_Clause

Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution, known as the Postal Clause or the Postal Power, empowers Congress "To establish Post Offices and post Roads".

Yup. And when I was a warehouse manager I checked out some federal shipping regs that said commercial shippers couldn't compete against the postal system. If I have time I'll try to google them again.
