Let me give you a honest opinion now. The massive bailouts goes to show its clear cut socialism and its not just during Obama's time cuz bailouts started way back in the 70s. If its really capitalism then those CEOs would be selling apples in the streets.

Whilst I certainly don't think a bailout is in any form "socialism" (simply because it's not) it is a good point you've raised. All the railing against the state and taxes and so forth from the capitalists is incredibly hypocritical: as soon as their greed causes problems they come running to the state for help.

It's like a bully at school. He's all tough when people are afraid of him but give him a punch on the nose and he soon bursts into tears and goes running for his mommy. That's Wall Street & The City in a nutshell.

Apart from bailouts, social security, unemployment insurance etc are all socialist programs.

they are social programs, not socialist. They come from a certain type of socialist idea that you can "fix", kind of a greed band-aid, but they aren't socialism.

I'm with Edgary on this, the 'bailout' of the major financial institutions in 2008 weren't 'socialist'. Socialism is, theoretically, an economic system which advocates for public ownership of the means of production. Providing financial assistance to the most powerful corporations and individuals in the world isn't exactly what I would call socialism.
