Been a lot of times I have not been busy. Now is not one of them. I just received a notice of jury duty. I really do not have time for this right now.

Hmm...
the death penalty thing may land him in the jury box.
Gonna have to show or get busted.
There maybe a chance you will not be picked.

I know here in NY, upstate anyway, they started a new policy of purposely picking people who have never served for jury duty before, as it was explained to us when I had to go two years ago. Fortunately for me, it was just that one day...a LONG almost 8 hour day...and I ended not being called at all and they were happy with the jurors they chose that day...thank God too, as it was for an attempted murder trial in Arbor Hill, the equivalent of Harlem in NYC. I was SO relieved not to have to be a part of that hot mess!

I was in the quorum for a captal murder case years ago. I was not in the final group. I was called to serve again several years ago. When I explained my work situation I was released wthout even making an appearance.

Never been picked for jury duty. I'm glad.

I've never been picked, either, and I'm the only person I know that WANTS to be picked. I'd love to be on a jury!!! I think my chances are slim to none around here, though, once they hear where I work.

I had jury duty once for a drunk driving case. We sat there for five hours only to find out they did a plea bargain, so they let us out early.

This is what happens to me every single time I get subpoenaed to testify. Seriously, 12 1/2 years on the job and I've never testified ONCE. They always plead out after I've sat there for an hour or two.

I've been called 7 times served 5. They somehow love me. :) Seriously I feel like I should serve if called. Unlike most folks I get my full salary when I serve, I just return the $10 or $15 a day, whatever it is and keep the mileage. And my winning personality :tooth I somehow get on the jury, served as forelady twice...... Bring something to do Fred, there is lots of dead time!!!!!! I read, personally, but whatever hobby bring something to do....

Why, JA, don't lean one way or the other for or against........unless the case was about child molestors then I'd have to admit prejudice going in and recuse myself............I couldn't honestly say I would listen with an open mind.....

Just messing with you! That is more times than anyone i know has ever served. Usually it is just sitting around waiting to be called.

The last time I was called it was for 3 big dudes ( brothers ) that killed one guy in a back alley as a gang hit..

To be honest I was glad I was not chosen as they would look at everyone that got called up as though to say they would come back and get you if you were chosen and they were found guilty ( IMO ). I just got a very bad feeling from seeing them in court. I don't think these guy would have had any remorse what so ever and were probably planning their next hit in the court room box.. :24:

The capital murder case I was called for before the guy admitted the murder it was just whether he got life or death.

My mom was the foreperson when she served a few years ago and they acquitted the woman. I can't see myself having jury duty in my county b/c, I'm sorry, if my unit had enough evidence to take warrants on you, you're probably guilty, LOL
