no post mortem, i expected some analysis

my theory

two consecutive stanley cups plus an olympics takes a toll physically and mentally

your studs ran out of gas

There are no words to describe the bowel movement that was that game 7. While I agree fatigue probably was a factor and Fleury hadn't been the same since the olympic break, there is really no excuse other than bad play. Gonchar who is usually our x-factor was out to lunch and played more nonchalant than usual. I don't get it. The sad thing is he's been an amazing asset to us for five years and because of that one shift where he totally side stepped to allow a short handed goal, the cry is for him to get to packing.

I really can't wrap my head around it. I give a crap ton of credit to Halak...we still peppered him with 35 shots that night. But the Habs had I think 20...that's it...and scored FIVE GOALS! Abysmal.

gonchar was invisible on moens goal, if i did not know better i would think he was being paid to ignore him, take a dive in boxing parlance

weird

You know for a brief moment...a very very very brief moment I lost my mind and thought, "they're throwing this game." That was the only way I could get my brain 'round it. But I think they just didn't have any gas left in the tank...still, it was really disappointing.

Little fun fact though. The Habs beat us at home in the very first game ever played at the Arena and now have beaten us in the very last...

I think they were more in the mode of playing not to lose versus playing to win. Too tentative

I feel your pain. Such is what us Wings went thru last year.

And also in plenty of games in years past where we would pepper the shit out of the opponent and carry the play but make some bonehead play to give up a goal and lose.
