How do we know some of these newbies are really newbies? Couldn't they be previous members who were banned or aliases of current members? I have my suspicions...:ninja:ninja

It's very rare someone slips through the cracks. And they generally screw themselves over.
if you were a member for a long time then it is easy to know usually you get to learn someone type of how they type.. but Admins can see the IP

I can confirm that I'm a fresh face of 2010 and if I was banned, I would of asked for this and the banned account to be merged.

some people probably do have alternate accounts or were previously banned, it's not very hard to hide your IP, but like it's already been said their posting style usually gives them away in the end.
