Amber and I have decided on a name, but first, the back story.

I'm Donald Morris T______ III. I refuse to make my child a IV, because that just sounds pretentious. So we decided to keep the initials the same.

We decided on Dominic Martin. Martin is her dad's middle name, and we both like Dominic (plus I'm very Italian :) )

Her whole family hates the name. Seriously, her mom, dad, brother and sister all hate it.

What do you guys think of it?

Dominic sounds too much like the word 'demonic' to me. Sorry.

But really does it matter what anyone else thinks? It is your familly and your child. If you both like the name, then you both like the name.

That's what we think. But I swear we can't see her mom without her suggesting new names, and half the time they don't even start with D.

I like the name a lot. But you're talking to someone who wanted to name her son vincent just so she can call him vinnie.

Didn't relaize you had done this thread already, was busy elsewhere and just about to go.

Well, I love that name and you and Amber have the say in what you name your baby - the operative word being 'your'.

So, go fo it, it's lovely and absolutely 100% up to you two and you two only. In-laws don't get a say. :);)

I like the name Dominic.

But how about Dylan? I always thought that was a nice name for a guy or girl... Dylan Martin. Nice ring I think, no?

rep delivered. ;)

And also, whatever name you settle on, no matter what it is, he will become that. We had different names picked out for all of our kids. Our 9 year old is named Lexi (literally, not short for anything) and we almost named her Corinthian (Cory) or Brontianna (Bronti).

We look at her now and think, "How could she be anything but Lexi??"

So you could name him Boogersnot Werbenmanjensen T________ the I and people will eventually come to accept it. And the fam will think he's the loveliest little angel they've ever seen! They'll be saying, "Aaaaaaaaw, look at little Boogersnot. He's just adorable! You guys should be SO proud!"

I like the DMT IV, though. Mad props to the family history, and being a fourth would be very unique. Not a lot of those walking around, and if it sounds pretentious, so what? It's a valuable family heritage, IMO. And you could always call him "Quat, Quatro, Quarto, Quatrieme, Vier.

See there?!?! Boogersnot is really Vier!

Personally I don't particularly like the name, sounds a bit chavvy to me but its not like its something really bad which he'll get bullied at school for! Everyone has different tastes so go for it if you like it. A name is only good as what the person makes of it. I'm sure most people told a certain Mr and Mrs Hitler that Adolph was a lovely name!

yeah, you don't see to many Adolphs running around the schoolyards, do you??

I think even bassackward, totally-farked-in-the-head Neo Nazis would have a kid and say, "Yeah, but that's a BIT much, don't you think? Let's name him Fred."

Word, Pete. ;)
