Why a surprise? It's just about happened before.
I can't remember what ver it was but there was a sp very soon after it was launched.Where did it happen before?
I was exactly the same way up till a couple of weeks ago. I was convinced by some here to switch to W7 and after a rough start I gotta say I absolutely love it and wouldn't switch back.I love XP. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!

Can't be, microsoft don't normally launch a service pack until after 2 years has elapsed, with W7 they are going to break with that tradition, nothing really major like Vista and ME, just a speed boost plus the odd security patch
Sure Ian... blame it on the beer.all i need now is a new keyboard.....this one keeps sticking,to much beer spilt on it over the years i suppose
:24::24: The last time I updated my W7 was on October 30. I did it again this morning so that would make it 19 days ago. In that batch I had 16 " critical " updates with more than 1/2 being " security patches ". Na.... they don't update much. I know you're talking about SP's but when you release that many updates in 19 days there isn't much of a need for SP's. :24::24:
Pfffft, they are patches, not Service packs
*** this is best read very slowly ***
I said that Tuffy. I also said there isn't much sense in doing a SP if you're releasing patches every day. Much of a SP is exactly that... patches with a few real enhancements.
Speaking of patches...

I know Tuffy... I know. There is sense in releasing Service patches, you don't have to re-install the multiple patches if you have to re-install Windows for any reasons....like installing a new hard drive (due to a hard drive failure), you can't just copy windows to another drive and expect it to work (unless you have cloning software) or new pc (home built)
