Just wanted to give all of you an update on my niece...

She was out of surgery about half an hour ago, and is in the Intensive Care Unit now.. According to my dad, everything went as well as could be expected, and the next day or so will be critical..

I'm waiting to hear from my sister, because I really don't know how much mom and dad have been told.. Mom is 82 and Dad is 90, so I think some of the details might be missing..

Dad said they won't know if there is any brain damage, loss of vision or hearing for another few hours.. so please keep your prayers for her going if you can..

My undying thanks and gratitude to all of you for being here for me today..

I love you all!!.. ♥

A NEW UPDATE ON MY NIECE
`````````````````````````
I spoke with my brother this morning, and I'm finally feeling a little relieved, since all the information I got before was from my parents, and I had assumed -correctly- that they weren't told of the extent of her problems...
They are still under the impression that the surgery was only to remove a cyst near her ear, and have been told they can't visit her until she is out of ICU..
This morning, my brother got the Okay from the doctors to start working with her, on her rehabilitation and physical therapy, which is good news.. :):thumbup
She is still in ICU, and beginning to talk a little, and today she could follow the instructions to touch her face and point her fingers, which is another small step..
Since they couldn't remove the whole tumor, and scrape all the remains off, to avoid some major problems later on, she will have to be watched carefully to make sure what's left of the tumor doesn't start growing again.. :(
Right now there is a little paralysis on her face, some hearing loss and vertigo, but it's expected to get better with some time and physical therapy.. So far, there is no vision loss, so I'm glad..
I'm sure her uncle will beat her boo boos with a big stick and have her up and walking in no time at all.. :):nod:
Best wishes for all of you and may she have the best results you can wish for..
Here's hoping they get the tumor and everything goes to plan.
*still keeping fingers crossed*
I hope everything goes well.
I just saw this thread, and even though I'm new I sorry I wasn't able to wish you good luck before the surgery.
I'm so glad she's out of surgery, lots of love and good thoughts headed your way.
How terrible for you to be so far away while this is happening. I can't imagine how your poor family feels, tragedy after tragedy for you all. This has to be the silver lining.
Lots of hugs to you, I hope you're feeling okay.
Please update us on your niece again when you hear something new
Lots of love,
Dayna.
Thank you everyone for your support and best wishes..♥
Your prayers and good vibes are still needed and will be much appreciated, as she is still facing a long and hard road ahead..
I will keep posting updates as I get them..
Again, thank you all for your support, prayers and good thoughts.. I love you all!..
Thanks for the update! Good to hear she's doing much better and on her way to first steps towards recovery. Prayers to continue. Hope you're coping well too :)
Those are expected of a brain surgery. To say the least she has most of her functions working and not that much loss to it. She'll do well and maybe what's left of the tumor, she'll just undergo radiation therapy when she's strong enough to do so! Call me when you need someone to talk to. I'll be here for yah Willow ;)
