My birthday was Saturday and even though we could ill afford it I have been pretty depressed and irritated about Joe losing his job and basically drinking every day. So I told him I wanted to go to Leavenworth, WA. It's a Bavarian theamed town about 180 miles from our place in the mountains. It's lovely, lots of German themed stuff and lots of Betty Boop knick knacks, etc. We stayed at a nice motel, not the most expensive but not a dive either, it even had a heated pool. I bought several Betty Boop stuff and a cat planter that's real cute, and one purse at the leather store where nothing is over $22! We ate pretty cheaply and yes we drank but I didn't care. Joe got a kind of Australian looking hat and we went back home Saturday (we took of Thursday nite) with the convertible top down. We both got sunburned though Joe could have worn his new hat. It was real fun and for a few days I didn't worry about Joe not having work, how to pay for Evan's college, my upcoming audit in July , or when or if we were getting the house built. I just had some retail therapy all and all I bout about $150 worth of Betty boop, a planter and my purse stuff, for me that's a lot!, oh and a bathing suit but I didn't end up swimming but it's cute and it was only $29 so what the hey. We left the dogs in the house and they were real good didn't poop or pee much at all, really. I don't know if Joe will go back to drinking every day but I know I needed that break from his depression and worrying all the time. It was fun!
