Well, Valentines day is coming up and I had an Idea to skip one of my classes, drive 2 hours to my girlfriends college and surprise her with roses and candy. (she has no idea that I would be doing this)

I already kinda talked her around to see when she has a break on that day. She has a break from 11am - 12:10. So I think I would leave around 930 that morning. Lol I have it all planned out.

Now the only problem is that she told me she didn't want me to spend that much money on her for valentines because I spent a lot on her for xmas. She told me nothing over $5. I was like WHAT!?!?!

It's at least going to cost me $30-40 to get down there, plus roses, ect will be at least another $20? The cost is not a problem, but she really ment not to spend that much on her so I REALLY need your advice? Thanks :)

when women say "dont spend too much money.." you have two options:

1 - leave her, cuz she is bullshitting you.

or

2 - know she is bullshitting you, and still spend a chuck of money anyways.

usually, the second option is best.

They may say not to spend the money and mean it but they will forget all about it when you do if its something thoughtful

You could enjoy Valentines Day with your girlfriend without spending much money. I don’t understand why you need to spend much for only that day!! Pick up your girlfriend from her college and then go for a long drive. Find out a nice place far from the city. Reach there; just give her a single red rose with a nice valentine card. That’s all to make her surprised. Just throw out the thought of spending much money from your mind.

Enjoy!! :)

hmm, personally i wouldn't say that doing something like this for the short amount of time that she has few would be worth it, big romantic gestures in my opinion should lead up to spending the rest of the day together.

In my opinion it would be a better idea to wait till the end of her college day, she may have slight fatigue and to come out after a day of work to a lovely surprise in my opinion would be much more effective in terms of making someone feel appraised, this is just my opinion but i think showing up in the middle of the day may come across as being a bit clingy.

Plus at the end of the day, you have more time to spend together which if it applied to me would probably be spent waling though a hilly/woody country walk (funny its only us english that find that romantic).

and it doesn't really matter how many roses you buy, if you buy a single one then put the stalk sideways in your mouth when you hand her the candy for extreme cheesyness (or not, lol)

Yeah, go for it TJ - she won't think you're being clingy given the fact u have to work that night, so it wld be acceptable and appreciated - Not all females want you to spend more, when they say not to.

I think one red rose if you're going that route, will be gd, a nice card and maybe a bottle of perfume?

I dnt know how long you've bn together though?

If about a yr or less, I think that'll be enough.

I've never really had anything for Valentine's as I'm not a Valentine's type person, but as a woman, if that was given to me I wld love it anyway. :)

minus the perfume...unless you know what she likes to put on. There are some perfume smells out there that smell nice, but don't really go with the person. The one rose sounds like a good idea, I think you should also bring her lunch or a dessert, since her break is around lunch time.

I was actually thinking about asking her to lunch before I would drive all the way home.
