My eyes are burning!!!

Oh my!

I have loads of experience with fires. I've always been a sort of firebug. :D

.... and ummmm.. yeah..... what Guyzerr asked.

You've got to have a good draft to get the smoke to go up and out to begin with. If you just let the logs smolder or burn slowly..... that might be a cause of smoke getting into the room. Use lots of kindling.

Awwww...... Don't give up. Have V show you how she does it.

My problem isn't smoke so much as it is making the place so damn hot that I end up opening windows and doors! LOL!

You gotta start a bit of a fire to create a draft. Light a sheet of newspaper or two to create an updraft. Then light the kindling. You are using decent kindling aren't you?

Do not... I repeat ... do not stoke it so much.

Stoke? All I do is load that baby up with wood and chuck it full with kindling and ignite it. Then I keep adding wood as needed. Or when it gets too hot..... when not needed too. :D
