Maybe in the UK but not the states. I think the huge tats covering much of the body here are mostly bikers, Prisoners, and occasionally just people with a major desire to be different. A Harris poll in 2003 says 16% have any tats at all.

that'd be fine except most people who get it seem to wanna express to others. in my opinion expressing yourself in permanent ink seems idiotic because people will see your expression sure, but will forget you the next day. you are just another soul taking up breathing space in their world. I don't have a thing against tattoos if the reason they get it are for their own sake and to express but for sake of expression but not for sake of "hey look at me" so I respect more if someone would get a tattoo hidden away and feels good about it because it is for him or her own self reminder of their past, present or future. but if it's just need to be known and that's the only way you can do it well, then that person needs to sit down and have a thought about their lives and where they are going.

Tatts are a great way to express ourselves. Some people are more expressive through their art as opposed to words. Nothing wrong with it at all.
