Now, before I start, this is MEANT to be incredibly weird. It's under the Absurdism style.

Requirements of this script:

*Short 2-3 minute scene.
*In this scene, the historical and cultural context of summer of the seventeenth doll should be highlighted.
*Any 20th Century style -other than realism- may be chosen.

So, John and Theodore just saw Summer of The Seventeenth doll.

For those that don't know, in Australia, there weren't many Australian plays because the English didn't approve of them, the Summer of the Seventeenth doll was Australian.

Anyway, here's the script. It's MEANT to be extremely in your face and weird. Here we go....

The stuff in [ ]'s are stage directions.

SCRIPT:

[Blank stage with ominous music playing. Music Stops. Offstage a lot of cheering and whooping is heard, wolf whistles and applause take over. Applause. Lights Out. After Around a minute...Two men walk in from Stage right. John the first Man is dressed in Jeans and a shirt, while the second man Theodore is dressed in a Tuxedo. John talks in a thick, full blooded Australian Accent, while Theodore, a thick full blooded English Accent. John walks slightly drunkenly and Theodore as an upright sophisticated man.
There is a table at the left covered in a black cloth and a table on the right covered by a white cloth.]

John: Boy, that was some play, huh Theo?

Theodore: I suppose.

John: Watcha talkin' bout man? It was great. I'm so sick of seeing all them English folk up on stage, it's about bloody time I saw some of me own folk.

[As John speaks this, the right table ahs it's white cloth removed. The audience is confronted with Human Heads, faces. Of English men. Presumably Actors]

These bloody English people are comin' in 'ere and not lettin' us show things from our point of view!

Theodore: Well, it's clear WHY we do so when you take a gander at that "Summer of the Seventeeth Doll" rubbish! We English have made MANY a sophisticated and Entertaining play!

Just take a gander at Mouse Trap [Behind, like ghosts, Actors silently re enact a scene of Mouse Trap.] OR how about What the Butler Saw? Does THAT fit your fancy? [Scene from what the butler saw re enacted behind them] Or even Midsummer nights dream? [Scene from midsumemr nights dream where bottom is turned into a donkey] You make a right ass of yourself disrespecting us.

Now there'll be a flood of you Australian 'ACTORS' if you can call them that! [The black sheet is lifted, revealing Australian Actors Heads].

John: Well, we have our plays too y'know. No need to get all high and mighty.

[Shadows come back chanting "Australian Actors, English Plays, we all want to run away"]

[Evil, demonic voice booms overhead shouting "THE FIGHT WILL GO ON, WILL GO ON, IT WILL GO ON"]

Theodore: I HATE seeing your Australian actors, but what I hate more is seeing you Aussies try to impersonate us English, BAH you think you're as good as us? I SPIT ON YOU!

John: BRING IT MATE.

[John and Theodore leap at each other, tumble down off the stage and roll through the middle of the audience. Mean while, 10 shadows are on one side of the pair shouting "AUSTRALIAN" and 10 shadows on the other side shouting "ENGLISH" neither shout at the same time.]

[ENTER a hooded unknown female who walks slowly from the back of the room, ALL eyes are on her, John and Theodore watching her closely with a puzzled expression while all 20 shadows stare and point as she walks down the Audience and slowly up onto the stage.

As the hooded female reaches the stage and stands, the shadows and John and Theodore instantly go back to fighting, as if she was never there.]

Hooded Female: *Ahem* Attention.

[Fighting continues]

ATTEEENNNNNTIOOOOONNNNNNN

[Quick flashing, different coloured lights, big thunder sound and more lights]

You fools, everyone has a right to express themselves. From the Aboriginals, to the Australians and Even the English, there's no use FIGHTING ABOUT IT!

[She turns around, throws off her robe and reveals herself as a heavily armed commando.]

Die...another day...

[LIGHTS OUT]

For some odd reason, I really liked that. Didn't understand it completely, but it intrigued me.

Thanks. That's the point of Absurdism. Thanks for reading!

It's meant to have random, meaningless (BUT APPEAR TO BE MEANINGFUL) things in it xD

Good stuff, absurdist fiction is definitely an aquired taste!

Well-done because it is very non-sensical and doesn't seem well made, but has a deeper meaning that the (now confuffled) viewer has to work out for themselves.
