My Dog had Surgery

They removed a mass on top of his head, but I swear they cut a three or four inch long incision for a mass that was the size of a pencil eraser.

Then they sewed him up hideously.

Do all vets do this? Are there no such things as plastic surgeon sutures for dogs?

I'm so upset. I don't have children. This dog is my child. He is my little man to take care of and cherish until he dies.

Cant really see it properly in that photo but it will probably look a lot better when it's all healed up properly. He still looks like a lovely looking dog to me and unlike humans, dogs dont care what they look like.:) If they did, my dog wouldn't try and roll in dead animals and cow shit when I take her out.:D

I'd let the Vet know what you think about it though. Maybe he'll do a better job in the future.

As for my dog..... What Peter said above made me laugh and here's a short story about my dog....

Hubby had just mowed and groomed the trails on our property. Later, he and I and our dog went for a walk. The dog was on a retractable leash. I always let her have the lead and it's out all the way.... about 20 feet.

She was walking along sniffing and wagging her tail and looking back at us often.... when suddenly.... she threw herself to the ground. I though she was having a seizure or something! Lo and behold..... there was a dying snake on the trail. (Hubby said he must have hit it with the tractor). She was rubbing herself all over it's oozing self. I couldn't see the snake until I pulled her back on the leash..... at which time she was already jumping up to move on.....

When I saw the snake I screamed. Yes! I am a 'little girl' when it comes to snakes. :D

Anywho..... the snake was still barely alive. I guess the dog is lucky she didn't get a bite whilst rolling in the stench that she wanted to remember later.

Ugggggggggggghhhhhh.........

I had hubby wipe her down when we got back to the house.

Dogs..... *shakes head*

awwwwwwwwwww he's so cute. My dog Lucy is like a child to me as well so I can certanly understand your frustration here....but I'm sure he'll heal nicely and be fine hun. :)

Thanks yall. I tried to take pictures of it, but he kept looking up at me smiling. I couldn't fuss at him for that... :)

And yes. We went out to Lake Martin. It's a swamp. We were walking along the side, and I had my dog on a long leash - wasn't paying attention.

We were watching the sun go down. I turn around to make sure my dog isn't close to the water, and he's got some grass sticking out his mouth and he's laying down on his back.

My first thought was "How cute!" But then I realized the grass belonged to a huge pile of green shit he had just scooped up and was now rolling around in.

YUCK YUCK! We had a 30 minute ride back to the house with him covered in shit.

amazing, no matter the amount of "trouble" our pets get in we always find a laugh or another reason to love 'em even more than before....

i wouldnt worry. my bfs dog got into a fight with a german shepherd. it had a big gash on his head that got stitched up. it list looks like his fur is a lighter colour there now. not all that noticeable. Im sure the vet wouldnt have done it if they didnt need to. maybe the mass was bigger that the suface lump?
