As a grown man and a father, I believe he has the right and freedom to make a decision how and when to spend time with his children. I think it's highly inappropriate for your Mom to be yelling at him for something so trivial. She is in no position to attempt to be controlling like that and determine what he is "supposed" to do.

I agree. Also what does his being late for his evening meal make him a "bad father"? I see nothing about it that has a damn thing to do with him as a father. It merely straightens my believe that there is a giant chasm between generations and how we perceive things.
