Nope - you were more along the right lines with 'open' Extra clue, it's in the office where I use it. Some people were bemused at its construction but they understand the reasons why. It's a hollow cardboard tube (was a wrapping paper tube) surrounded by some extra cardboard at the top for a 'handle' and completely wrapped in packing tape.

Bear in mind Thornirnee's correct guess (almost completely) of what was written on it too. Last word and 'G' were correct.
