I started playing guitar the summer between 6th and 7th grade. I plucked out bass lines of songs, then melodies of songs at first. I never played the guitar parts because I didn't know how to form a chord. My Dad worked for Memorex (the audio tape company) and we got one of the first Sony VCR's they ever made because my Dad was designing better quality VCR tapes for them. Well we had two Videos, "the sound of music" and a live concert of Chuck Berry. Long story short, I copied him making bar chords and that's all she wrote, I was a power chord playing fool ever since that day. It was the first time I could actually play guitar parts of songs that ROCKED!

This has been a behind the music historical moment in the life of Booze

Washburn, nice.
And Art, pick it up for 15 minutes a day and in a year.....you'll have picked it up 5475 minutes! That's 365 times in 15 minute intervals. That's actually more time then New Kids On The Block ever even touched a musical instrument. With this said Arti, go touch your instrument.......errr guitar!

hehe... i try, i try - i just need some good routines to practice - and i need a chord list.
i can do the A and E form barre chords ok (major and minor, not that thats so hard)
i know all the basic open chords and some of the open major sus chords.

so for that i just kinda strum whatever, just to keep imprving rythm and stuff.

what i really want is some good plucking/picking routines to practice.

i also dont like using a pick - which im sure slows me down a bunch

Funny you should say that. When I teach a person to play ROCK guitar, I have them do nothing but a muffled E bar and have them work on rythem, crunching, picking techniques. I show them several different types, like the good old gallup, which made Metallica famous.
Just put a CD on with a good fast tempo, like Helmet- Mean Time (just happen to be listening to it now) and do nothing but mimic the crunch/strum patten. Once you get that down, then play along doing power/bar chords. Before you know it, you'll be jam'n with Helmet. By the way, I do think practicing with Helmet is a great learning tool, plus I think they're the best band in the world, LOL.
