I was talking about all drugs in general, but mushrooms, though they are not as dangerous as LSD and other "psychedelic" drugs, you gotta think that they are not good either... how can something that makes you see something that is not there be good? how can seeing something affect you psychologically? I'd be more than careful with hallucinogenic drugs. Some people are not in good mental health conditions to experiment with those.
LSD is not toxic either. the amount you would have to ingest to kill you almost astronomical.
Most psychedelics do almost no damage whatsoever to the brain unless taken very frequently or in huge doses. In addition, as long as you mentally prepare yourself ahead of time, the chance of a bad trip is very small too. moderation is the key, as it is with most things. Psychedelics are even used in forms of psychotherapy, to help patients with various levels of psychosis. The only thing really bad that can come of hallucinogens is a possible triggering of psychosis, but a person must already have dormant psychosis for it to be triggered.
and there are some things it's better not to experience.
doing mushrooms and LSD were two of the greatest experiences of my life. Both opened my mind farther than I had ever thought possible. Doing those substances literally made me rethink my life and made me the person I am today. Before I had a very short temper, and was fairly unexcepting of most people, but since my experiences, I have changed both of those problems. Psychedelics are not something I would do weekly, or even monthly, but I definitely believe that they are something that anyone who has ever wondered about them should try, at least once.
then again, it's everyones personal choice to either do substances or not, so I respect your right to never do them...
