Anybody ever had one of these??? Several months ago now I bit my lip in my sleep. When I woke up the next morning, I had a mark on my face that I could tell was where blood had leaked underneath my skin...I joked around that I had herpes b/c, to be honest, it looked like a herpes sore, LOL

Anyway, in time a small raised bump formed on my bottom lip. I had it checked out b/c it wouldn't go away and it turns out that when I bit my lip I crushed a mucus duct, causing it to get blocked. Now I get to have oral surgery on Tuesday to have it removed.

It's more annoying than anything, really. I hope I'm not going to regret scheduling surgery when I'm going to have to work the fair later that night, LOL I know I have to get stitches...but hopefully it won't be that bad.

It's not painful usually, but the problem is that I end up biting my lip where it's located or scraping it against my teeth and it gets sore. Looking at the google pictures, though, I think I'm very lucky b/c mine is nowhere near as big as the ones they have pictured. I'm glad I'll be getting it removed, though. I'll have to put $250 - $350 out of pocket on Tuesday and then get reimbursed by my insurance (which I'm sure they'll be in a HUGE hurry...yeah, right) but it'll be worth it not to have be frustrated by it anymore.

And I will TOTALLY post pictures of my yucky incision once I have my surgery. :tooth

Yea, I just imagined since it was in the mouth it had to be painful. That's good it's not unless it gets irritated.
Good luck on its removal and then going work the fair that night. LOL

Never heard of such a thing. Ouch though. Hope you're not in the kissing booth at the fair, lol.

Just got home from surgery. Pretty simple, really. Couple of shots of novacaine to the lip, cut it out, stitched me up...took less than 30 minutes once I got back there. They're sending it up to Emory to make sure it's nothing more serious and I follow up for lab results in 10 days. The stitches will come out on their own.

I'm really swollen, though. I'll look AWESOME working the fair tonight, LOL

Well if you don't succumb to the womanly YACK urge you should be OK. Don't eat anything spicy either, no matter how good it looks. Did that a day after a tooth extraction and it was miserable.

I had ice cream for dinner last night, LOL Then when I left the fairgrounds I stopped and got some Krystals because they're soft and were easy to eat.

Looks better today. Swelling is going down, but the bruising is getting worse.

at least its on the inside, so when the swelling goes down you won't still have stiches across your face!

LOL True. I was glad when the swelling went down some, so that the stitches went inside my mouth instead of sticking up just above my lip. I slept w/ a bag of frozen black-eyed peas on my lip. :24:
