I forgot until today that I had a program installed on my old XP machine. It allows one to make an HDR photo out of just one shot where normally at least 3 are required. Anywhoo... I had some time to kill so I installed it today and was just fooling around. As you can see it can change the dynamics of a photograph very dramatically. It's also very easy to overdo it. In any event here's a bunch I whacked off. Sorry for the long post but I'm bored.

The first post will be the original and the second will be the altered version. I decided to post 'em that way so you can see the actual effect. Btw there's a lot more that can be done if once wanted to take the time.

I like the third and fourth one only because I love mountains and dark clouds. That said... I haven't used that program in ages because the pictures usually turn out quite sureal and like you I prefer the original shot. I was just inmtroducing HRD to anyone that might be interested and as I said I was bored and had some time to kill.

oh....and no parcel still:(

That really pisses me off. It's been what...6 weeks. I'm going to the post office tomorrow and I axe the bitch how long it usually takes. I'll let you know what she says. I wish I would have kept the pm with tha addy you gave me. Hey.. you didn't by chance change jobs in the last 6 weeks did you?

i like the more sublte ones. i think No3 is a little over done. No2 is a nice balance. I like no 1 exept the solid cloud at the top. maybe crop it out panarramic styley?

Woops.. I messed up early this morning. It means High-dynamic range. I thought about the mistake after I posted it but by then it was too late. I had turned off the computer and was getting ready for work.

If I ever send you anything again it will be by express mail. This is stupid and takes all the fun out of it.

That's a neat program. It definitely improved the duck pic and I like the effect on the pic of Mt. Baker too. :thumbup
It is a nice program but not something I used very often nor do I plan to. It's just fun to muck about doing different stuff.

Love them all but the one with the bridge is gorgeous. Nice work.
One of the unfortunate things SS is that you see them in such small sizes. I see them in full on my 24" screen and the difference is amazing. I presently have the bridge shot as my desktop and I like it. The sharpness would blowed :D you away. It's sharp as a tack and I can almost count the individual windows in the houses which btw are a few miles away from where I was standing. The bridge btw is called Lions Gate.

So do I. It changes the shot without making it look fake.

i think No3 is a little over done.

A little over done? :24: A lot actually. But like I said it's easy to over do it. I used that one for that effect because of the amount of clouds in it. HDR loves clouds and / or water but one has to be careful. As it stands that shot looks fake as the day is long but it's still nice to look at on my 24" screen.

No2 is a nice balance. I like no 1 exept the solid cloud at the top. maybe crop it out panarramic styley?

" panarramic styley " ? Is that a new Brit saying? I'm not familiar with that term so I gotta look it up. I gotta get ready for work so I'll do it this evening... unless you can give me a quick definition. I don't like that cloud formation either and would like to see it gone.

What program is this Guyzer? I love the effect, I know it's not very naturalistic on some of the mountain shots but I'm a fan of pictures that look enhanced :)

This is not a criticism of the HDR, but I feel that the 1st and 3rd HDR photos are slightly overdone
The 1st is a bit purpley while there is too much definition on the 3rd one
