For me, Avatar. A lot of people said they felt it was too hyped and so they hated it - I managed to not read a single thing about the movie before it came out, so I had no real idea what it was about or what to expect. As a result - loved it.

Also the newest Star Trek. I've seen the old movies and you know, they're hit and miss, so I wasn't expecting much from the new one. Turned out to be one of my favourite films! Seen it like five times.

It's so good :) I know people complained about the lightbursts all over the place. I liked them. Fuck people!

People complained about them destroying Vulcan. I kind of like the possibilities that opens up for future sequels. The cast signed on for three if I recall.

with that being said Star Trek II: Wrath o' Khan was originally scrapped as a screenplay because they wanted the Trek adventure to be more dark..on par with Star Wars...but as a viewer..Star Wars was Star Wars and Trek was Trek

Avatar imho. Easily hyped to the moon and beyond and I went into the cinema to watch it in 3d with a mindset to not like it and ended up enjoying it thoroughly.

I think the key here is to purposefully read all the bad reviews about a film before you see it, so you have zero expectations :p

Someone should start a "most watched movies" thread, as there's every other kind of thread going :p

For me, that would encompass V for Vendetta and Blade Runner.
